Fee Schedule Resources Online

A comprehensive summary of the 2008 Medicare physician fee schedule final
rule is now available for members on the APTA Web site. Also available to
APTA members is an updated Medicare Fee Schedule Calculator, which gauges
reimbursement rates according to the 2008 rule. The rule includes a 10.1%
reduction in the Medicare physician fee schedule conversion factor, an
extension of the plan-of-care recertification timeframe to 90 days, new
definitions and updated personnel standards, and various other provisions.
The final rule was published in the Federal Register November 27. A shorter
APTA document with more concise highlights of the final rule has been
available since the rule was released November 1.

 

Advocacy Forum Promotion Requested

With the New Year approaching, APTA is gearing up for the 2008 Federal
Advocacy Forum. Please help APTA build support by adding information on the
event to component publications, listserves, and newsletters. The forum will
be held Sunday, March 30, through Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the Washington
Court Hotel on Capitol Hill. The event will educate participants on current
legislative issues and will offer effective strategies for communicating
with members of Congress. Those interested may register online, download a
registration form, or call APTA at ext 3395 from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm EST.

 

Audio Conference to Address Medicare Changes: Registration Ends December 9

Physical therapists and assistants can get a detailed update on dramatic
Medicare changes affecting them at APTA's upcoming audio conference,
"Medicare 2008 - Changes for Physical Therapy." The call will be held from
2:00 to 3:30 pm EST on Wednesday, December 12. Learn more about significant
changes to physical therapist certification, qualification standards, the

Gayle Lee, JD, APTA's Director of Regulatory Affairs; and Roshunda
